Council News

November-December Events

Two KC activities this month. Tuesday is our monthly General meeting for all members (the CTK bulletin incorrectly says Planning Mtg). Come to a meeting to find out what our Council is doing.  Then on Friday, Veteran's Day, we Knights are saying the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel at Christ the King. Everyone is invited to participate. All veterans are especially encouraged to come.

Also, this year our Council will not be preparing the breakfast for the Feast of Christ the King, due to the parish 50th Anniversary celebrations.

We plan to have a Christmas party in December; more info will be sent when plans are firmed up.

Christ the King Parish 50th Anniversary Special

Christ the King parish is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.  As part of the celebration, the parish has produced a short video about the history of the parish.  It is being published here first as a test.  It will be published on the parish website as well.  Check it out!

September News & Events

The 25 Year Anniversary Celebration party on July 30th was a good time. Over 30 members past and present along with spouses enjoyed great food, cold refreshments and fun conversation. Charter members present included Tony Arjavac, Jim Dille, Kim Oey, Dave Barnes, Pat Shanahan, Flavio Reyes, Fred Moritz and John Brockamp. Pat and Linda Shanahan came from Vancouver, while Fred and Barbara Moritz came from Port Angeles, WA to join us. Kevin and Kathy Kiel came up from Dallas, OR. Past Grand Knights who came were Kim Oey, Dave Barnes, Fred Moritz, Dan Ramirez, and Tom Morgan, along with current Grand Knight Daniel Cortez. New CTK Administrator Fr. David Shaw came to visit with us, and said the blessing for our meal. A display of the charter certificate, a poster listing our deceased brother Knights, and many of the awards received by the Council was created by Allen Hanset, and we left it in place for the parishioners to view after Sunday Masses. The only negative was that more members were not able to join us.

April News & Events

At the General Meeting on Tuesday April 12th, it was reported that $890 was collected the previous weekend for the Pennies for Heaven campaign. After adding the money previously collected, it brought the total to $1450, and the Council voted to round that up and contribute $1500 to support the Mt. Angel Seminary. Our donation will be presented at the OR State KC Convention in Medford on April 30th. Thanks to the Brother Knights who helped with the collecton, and especially thanks to the generous parisioners of Christ the King Paris..

The Council also voted to contribute $500 to the McKernan Scholarship Fund with the proceeds of the Irish Dinner.

Grand Knight Daniel Cortez and Trustee Bill Celorie will be our Council's delegates to the State Convention. PGK Dan Ramirez is the alternate delegate.

The Christ the King Life is Sacred group sent a report that they have sold 160 of the 200 Keep Christ in Christmas car magnets the Council purchased for them. They reimburse the Council for the costs as they sell the magnets, and they keep the difference as a fundraiser for their pro-life efforts.

Monthly Rosary Procession scheduled

The Council's monthly rosary will take place in April on the Feast of our Lady of Good Counsel, Tuesday the 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the CTK church chapel. Starting in May the rosaries will return to John Brockamp's outdoor chapel Good Shepherd Place on the 13th of each month, in honor of the Blessed Mother's request at Fatima to pray for world peace.
